BIOGRAPHY
Flying Emperor brings together the creative skills of Emma D’Souza and the design expertise of Nelson D’Souza. From successful early projects transforming the interior of homes for friends and family, Nelson and Emma realized that their high quality alternative to curtains and blinds was attracting serious attention. And the result: Flying Emperor was born. Nelson and Emma combine technical understanding, and attention to detail with creative style and vision.
The message from Nelson and Emma is simple. In their own words: “At Flying Emperor, we aim to provide you with unique products that reflect your personality. We make your interior design dreams come true!”
NELSON
From a family of magicians and musicians, as a child Nelson was constantly designing and making things - from wooden go-carts to adjustable stilts. He continued to satisfy his creative yearning by creating new products or improving existing designs. As a final year student at De Montfort University he designed the UK’s first street condom vending machine in 1989. Inspired by Flying Emperor, he’s now finally escaped from his professional career in Automotive design and engineering.
After trying gliding, hang-gliding, and paragliding, Nelson finally found his real passion in playing the piano, cooking, great food and jazz music.
EMMA
Emma grew up unconventionally, surrounded by artists and musicians. She studied art and sculpture at Hastings College of Art, and after living in West Africa, trained and worked as a Montessori Teacher. After marrying and having children Emma decided to commit to her creative passions and become a full time artist. She has sold many of her works through private commissions.
Emma is passionate about salsa dancing, Latin music, painting and musicals.
